Live in Lithuania
Before coming to Lithuania, please make sure that your documents issued in your country of origin or elsewhere are valid in Lithuania. They must be legalized or certified with Apostille. Foreign Documents Validity
Documents issued in any foreign country will not be accepted in Lithuania unless they are legalized or approved by Apostille. Citizenship
The Law on the Citizenship of the Republic of Lithuania defines individuals eligible for the Lithuanian citizenship. It also specifies cases for the children under 18 to be considered as holders of the Lithuanian citizenship, or citizenship retention cases. If you live permanently in Lithuania and wish to obtain Lithuanian citizenship, you have to apply to the territorial Migration Office.
Live in Lithuania (EU Citizens)
Any EU citizen is entitled to stay in Lithuania for up to three months over a period of half a year. This period is calculated from the first day of arrival. If a EU citizen comes to live permanently in Lithuania, together with a citizen of our country as a member of his family, he must get a certificate confirming the permission to reside in Lithuania.
Live in Lithuania (Non-EU Citizens)
Non-EU citizens wishing to reside in Lithuania must receive a permit. Permits shall grant a right for temporary or permanent residence in Lithuania. A temporary residence permit shall be issued for a period of one year. A permanent residence permit in Lithuania shall be issued for a period of five years. It shall prove the alien’s permanent resident status.
